Hello everyone! My name is Bekka Baker and I am 22 years old. I have been in Iraq since January and I started the south beach diet as soon as i got here. I was also in Iraq last summer for 4 months and we got home and they told us that we would have to come back in January. Well I love to eat and always have, so of course in my head I thinking that since I had to come back here in 3 months I would eat whatever I wanted b/c I knew i wouldn't be able to eat good food in Iraq. I went overboard!!!! I gained alot of weight. I was up to 145 and I am only 5'3. I used to do the Weight watchers thing but i was always thinking about food and i felt so hungry all the time. Over christmas i saw my brothers sister-n-law and i hardly recognized her b/c she was so thin. i met her about 6 months before that and she was alot bigger!!! she said she was doing the south beach diet so i decided to do it when i got here and i have lost 15 pounds since january. i really love this diet! i dont feel hungry and i can eat until i am full. i work out alot too so i am sure that helps me alot. i am at 130 right now and my goal weight is 120. hopefully i will get there soon!

Question: Green Tea
i use those crystal light packets for my water all day long and i think they are fine. i probably use 10 of them day and i havent gained any weight or anything. i mix one packet of the fruit punch with one packet of the orange sunrise and it taste so good! i cant drink plain water all the time so it definately helps me!

Calorie counting
I havd found that counting my calories has really helped me alot. I usually have about 1100-1250 calories a day. It helps me not over eat too b/c I dont want to go over that number of calories. I am not exactly sure how many we are supposed to have but that is what has been working for me. hope that helps....

Help - Stand Still on Weight Loss
hey kathy! you will keep losing weight, dont give up. i have been on the SBD for 3 months and i run 5 miles 5 days a week and i still only lose about 1 to 2 pounds a week. Smile

Calories and Carbs...
I started doing the SBD like 3 months ago and i guess i was getting bored so i started counting my calories for fun and it has really helped my stay on track. So I really wont have more than 20 nuts b/c they have lots of calories. I pretty much just given up on the nuts b/c i cant eat just 20!!!! counting the calories helps me stay focused...
