Weighing meat with bones
Thanks for sharing that article!

I have done endless googling to try to debunk this. All articles say to "weigh raw" which indeed does make sense to an extent - except that it doesn't take into account how much fat falls off the meat while cooking, also the water weight lost, etc etc - so while in some ways yes its accurate its also not.

Especially things like chicken legs which if grilled or put on a bbq will loose a lot of fat.

I follow a low carb diet lifestyle so really I don't overly count calories but its just something thats been bugging me for a while. I just was shocked what a huge difference it would make.

In the end I go for the generic "chicken leg" entry and still over count the grams just in case. But a potential 100 calorie difference over a long period of time even on a LC lifestyle will make an impact on success. In particualr for peopel who are closer to their weight goal where calorie intake does count.

Again, I try not to over think things - but such big difference bug me. lol.

Weighing meat with bones
Here is something I've been wondering for a while.

I recently bought chicken legs and the nutrition information on the back is per 100grams.

Each chicken leg was about 300 grams - so then the calories became a whopping 690 calories. (230 per 1oo grams according to the package).

What I am wondering is should I be including the bone weight?

But hten I saw another entry for chicken leg - i entered the same amount and the entry was at 258 calories - this seems a bit on the low end.

any ideas?

Since its quite a significant difference I'm really curious...
