I'm a mom of two boys ages 9 and 10. I have been married to my husband for 11 years. I am a yo-yo dieter. I am fat. In high school I remember riding the bus with a friend and each week it was a contest who weighed less even if it was a pound. My family ate everything fried. My grandma made cakes or cookies everyday. We had to eat everything on our plate even if we were full. My parents never made me go out and play. I was never taught totally how to live a healthy lifestyle. My grandma went into a diabetic shock ,I found her. She died a few weeks later. My mom changed our eating habits because later she found out she was diabetic and started baking everything instead of frying but by then I was overweight. My mom dropped all her excess weight and got down to 155. I decided I would drop all that weight too after I had my kids and did get down to 155. It took eating basically nothing but fruits and vegetables and working out on an elliptical 2 hours a day everyday. Eventually we couldnt afford to continually eat healthy. In the summer we did because I plant a huge garden and fresh stuff to eat everyday..but winter is expensive. I also got tired of having to carve out 2 hours a day every single day to work my butt off in these high intensity workouts. I started skipping days and then was skipping everyday. When I weighed 155 my mom and sister weighed around the same. We took a picture. I call this my skinny picture. I looked too thin there and I had to work too hard. So I stopped and gained it all back. I believe the weight chart is a load of crap. For my height I still would have to lose more weight and be under 155 to be at my "ideal" weight. I want to be a healthy weight instead. A weight were I enjoy exercising but dont have to kill myself, a weight were I eat 90% healthy whole foods and not have to deprive myself of the occasional bad food. Whatever weight that is then great.
My goal of 160 is just a mark to go by not what I have to be.

5k
Ok well its official, my first race. I signed up yesterday for a 5k. I have been making a plan to run a 15k on labor day, planned on running all summer and training for it. This will be the first race and then I plan on doing a 7 or a 10 k around june. I dont think I can run the whole 5k yet but thats because of stupid winter and the race is in 2 weeks lol. I wish it would get warm so I could attempt to run more than one mile. I know I can run at least 3/4 of the race if I walk inbetween. Just still a little scary. I'm doing this with my sister and her husband. Should be fun!Confused Very Happy

Hungry & full at the same time?
I too am doing calorie count. When I first started I was hungry all the time and set my rdi to 1700. It wasnt soon after that I had the same problem as you..I couldnt even eat near the 1700 mark. Found my body then only wanted 1500 or so. So I lowered my RDI to that. It seems there are even days now that I force myself to eat because if I dont I wouldnt hit 1200! It just depends on the day. My body knows what is best. I just say I cant go over 1700 no matter what and only eat what my body wants me to. My days fluctuate between 1200-1600. If I work out I eat towards the high end, if I am pms-ing I eat the low end. Normal day for me right now for my body is 14-1500. I would say force eating little meals throughout the day to equal 1200 but if your body doesnt want more I wouldnt force it. Maybe its just your body changing. Trust it and work together with it.

Wt.
I agree, you need to be eating at least 1200 calories or you body will not function correctly in the long term. You may lose weight to begin with if you are burning fat, but eventually it will start eating away at your body. 1200 lowest. Your body may be in starvation mode already.

Calorie calculation help!
Try to find a simular food. If you are looking up jam and yours has like 5 carbs 5 sugars etc try to find jam with all the numbers you do have. I know its exhausting but once you have logged what you normally eat it will keep popping up under recently or most eaten food. That would suck to not have that information. I would say if you can find simular products your calories shouldnt be that far off.

what did you give up?
I have really tried to make this a lifestyle and not a diet. I dont deprive myself of anything. I thought that I would still want all the sweets and pasta all the time but I really dont. I guess if I had to say one thing I gave up it was little debbie. Its extreme fat/sugar that Iknow used to taste good but now taste like greasy sugar to me. NO thanks. I also gave up excessive calories. I was eating 3 times what my body needed and complaining because I kept gaining weight. Gee wonder why? I now know what my body needs to function and am learning more about it everyday. It wasnt really giving up anything, it was cutting back on everything I let go out of control.
