I am a mom of two living in downtown Toronto. I am from Santa Monica, CA but had lived for 17 years in New York City before moving to Frankfurt, Germany at the end of 2010, and then to Toronto in August, 2013.

I am 51 years old and have been working full time my whole life until we moved to Canada. Now I am making up for lost time with my children by being a stay at home mom.

I have had to fight my weight for most of my life but have always managed to get my head into the right place to regain discipline and get back in shape. I have been a regular gym-goer for more than 20 years, but that all fell apart once I moved to Germany. My job was super stressful and my commute was long. I never saw my kids or my husband so it seemed horribly neglectful to devote even a few hours a week to the gym. Even so, I tried to do this sporadically and joined a gym in Germany. But it was just too difficult to maintain a regular gym schedule.

When we moved to Canada, I thought this would be easy. I didn't have a full-time job, after all. But I find that my motivation is gone, and I can't pinpoint why. Maybe it is age, maybe it is the lack of a need to go to an office every day, maybe it was that I am busier than I thought I would be with having to manage 100% of the household and the unpredictable schedule that goes with that, maybe it is the crummy winter we just had... I don't have a lot of friends around to help me get motivated, either, since we are new here. So I need a kick in the pants!

I am hoping that joining this web group will help give me that required kick...
