Current Weight:(15 Sep 14) 230.6 lb
Goal Weight:180.0 lb
following: Michael Pollan's "Eat Food" Diet
performance: losing 1.1 lb a week

43 years old, 5'8.5" mother of one. I work full-time and am a graduate student part-time. I keep losing the same 40-50lbs over and over. Back at it! Trying to eat healthier, focus, and move more. I don't have problems losing weight. I have proven that to myself. I have problems keeping it off. So, I need to fix that. I like to be busy. But it's easy to forget to take care of oneself. I like swimming and yoga, so I'm trying to do more of both.

Stats at start (Sept. 15/2014)
230.6 lbs
43" waist
51" hips
32" right thigh
33" left thigh

(I plan to weigh in once a week and measure myself once every 6 weeks or so. I used the info on how to measure yourself here: http://www.livestrong.com/arti...

It will probably take me a year to get to where I want to be (180). I'm going to set some mini-goals along the way. First one is to try and lose 10-15 by November 6th, 2014, when I leave on a little business trip. I will measure myself again then too.

on the saddle again...
Hiya. Not new to this site but I've been away for awhile. I tend to lose 30-40lbs and then walk away, then gain it back and then start over. Not pleased about that... would like more consistency, but anyway, the first step is to get losing again. I have had trouble with this site in the past, finding kindred spirits. So here's what I'm looking for - people who don't define themselves by the number on their scale, but who just want to get healthier. Vanity of course motivates, but I find that to be a short term motivator rather than long term. For me, anyway, your mileage my vary. Maybe it helps that I'm over 40 and so certain vanities had to be let go of long ago! Not into Atkins, paleo, etc etc... am focused on exercise and eating healthy foods (whole grains, veggies, lean proteins) in moderation. I don't judge, if that's what you're into and it's working for you, great, but it's not my scene. Any like minds out there?

How do i avoid being hungry all the time???
When I am hungry I eat. But the trick is to have stuff around you that is healthy and not too high in calories. So sometimes I eat all the leftover veggies from dinner. Or I make a giant bowl of salad (but just a little dressing). Baby carrots dipped in hot sauce. A piece of fruit even. And a big glass of water to go with. I don't believe in being hungry. Wink
