Where to start? I'm almost 61 years old, retired Certified Pharmacy Technician, married 18 years to my wonderful second husband, and am an insulin-dependent diabetic. I have a 33-year-old son from my first marriage and the sweetest pit bull in the world, Mr. MoJo. It seems like I have been at least 130 lbs. overweight my whole life. It made my childhood unhappy, and my teens and twenties were simply miserable. I have started countless 'serious' diets; and once, in my thirties, actually lost about 100 lbs. on my own. (It came back) I even went to see a bariatric surgeon to try to get a gastric bypass. (Didn't work out) I have been on everything from Atkins, to Weight Watchers. But now, I think my eyes have finally been opened...my brother-in-law (same age as me and also more than 100 lbs overweight) just had a SECOND stent inserted in his heart. This really scared me, and now since June 8th, 2012 I am really leaning to Keto. I'd love to find a few folks to make
new friends chat with and help in any way possible. I hope everyone the best of luck in whatever works best for you. P.S. I have loved my muse, Stevie Nicks for 46 years now.

JUMP TO UPDATE: Dec 31, 2014

After years and years of giving it everything I've got, I finally listened to my Diabetes Dr. and had gastric bypass on July 1, 2014. IT WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MYSELF. I have lost a total of 168 pounds and my diabetes in nearly gone. From 14 Rx pills to 3. Years of high blood pressure are over as now it is perfect. Cholesterol is below normal. I love to walk and Zumba is the best! I also do water aerobics even though I can't actually swim. I feel like I am alive for the first time in 40 years, experiencing breaking out of the cocoon, pure chrysalis! The only regret is that I waited SO very long to do it. Now, I have the energy to be full-time cashier at a very busy grocery store, plus take care of my family. You best believe, every day, I say, "Thank you, Lord."

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
My moment was when my husband and I were having breakfast in a small diner and the waitress reconized him (from a few years before) and said, " Oh, is this your mother?" I'm younger than he is.
