I am 60 years old and retired from the US Navy. I live in the Desert Southwest and love the climate and people out here. I am being treated with medication for hypertension and high cholesterol. Occasionally I have high triglycerides and about 3 years ago was diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes which I have addressed with diet and exercise and 2 months later was no longer Pre-Diabetic and have maintained that status. I try to walk at least 3 miles a day 3 or 4 days a week. I will also try to get to 60 minutes on an exercise bike riding for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, sometimes much longer if I am feeling really good. I have low energy due to a hormone problem so I am tired much of the time, but not depressed. I am entering this diet to lose weight, I have a small goal to get to 155 lbs and a larger goal of 125 lbs. My BMI is 29 and I would love to get it to 18 or 19 which would take me from the high end of obese to the low end of normal weight for my age. I am going to put my RDI at 1822 but targe my calories between 1200 to 1500 per day. In the end I hope to regain both my health and my strength. Once I am settle with this plan I will begin to practice intermittent fasting 3 times per week and increase that practice until it happens every day.
