I'm 62 and have been over weight for about 18 years. I've tried dieting many different times but this time it's the real deal. I like the Atkins diet a lot. I feel full and haven't missed the sugar or carbs either! I used to eat randomly all day and eat whatever i was craving. Now, I feel in control. I just need to find the right food combination that works for me to lose weight.

help...what am i doing wrong on induction? can't lose weight and have gained a couple pounds
I don't eat Atkins bars or the shakes on a daily basis. Last week I had 3 bars total and they were eaten an hour before an exercise class. I'm cooking most of my food. My body is just adjusting slower and it could be all of my medications I take too. 35 years ago I was diagnosed with Graves' disease. I dealt with trying to control it with thyroid meds, but after a couple of years with no control my doctor ordered I-131 radiation treatment. Now I have no thyroid and take Synthroid daily for the rest of my life. I'm also hypertensive and take 3 meds to control that not to mention Lipitor to control cholesterol levels.

I started Atkins 3 weeks ago and have lost 2 lbs. I was trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and I'm certain I'm not eating enough vegetables. I am writing everything down now, and recording my meals on fat, which has helped me. I've thrown out all snacks that aren't on my plan. I'm also preparing everything, which means my kitchen is a greasy mess most of the time! I wash most of my pots and pans by hand all day long! Hang in there! Don't be frustrated. If you continue following Atkins I'm certain you will soon be celebrating a victory!
