Hi I'm Sharon. I am 51yo and live in Connecticut. I am a passionate equestrian. I love horses, particularly MY horse ;-) His name is Tony and he's a 7yo Imported Dutch Warmblood. We do go into hunter shows where he's known as JetSet. I've struggled with my weight since after having my children 30 years ago. I need to learn how to balance my life, my food choices and my exercising so that I can stop this yo-yo affect.

I'm really looking for friends to support and help support me. I truly want to be thin and healthy. I hope I can find someone who feels the same way and is willing to put in the work both physically and emotionally

I need HELP
Amen kokusho - I completely agree. I've been on both sides of this discussion. I've been unmotivated and highly motivated. You're absolutely correct, the motivation does have to come first. The will/desire needs to come from within

Well said thank you. Also LOVE LOVE LOVE your statement of "I do not hope to lose weight, its not a random occurence or luck, its a choice" LOVE THAT!!

I need HELP
Not sure if you have access to a treadmill or gym OR is it nice enough where you live that you can walk outside. I highly recommend you going for a walk. Make it 15 minutes to start - no matter how much you do not want to go, unless you're in too much pain to walk, go for that walk. I promise you that you will feel SO much better.

#1 - getting up and moving will definitely make you feel physically better

#2 - emotionally you will feel so proud of yourself for doing it.

I have been where you are (minus the crohns and asthma) and for the last 10 days I've been hitting my treadmill every single day. I want you to know that EVERY SINGLE DAY i hate going down to my basement and getting on my treadmill. The first 15 minutes I have constant arguments with myself about how much I do not want to do this. HOWEVER (and this is big) when I'm done, there isn't any drugs that make me feel has great as I feel!!!! So I have this hate/love thing going on with my treadmill but the thing is, I do it. I do it because when I'm done - I feel so amazing both physically and emotionally.

Hope that helps

How the heck?!?!?!?!
Such a great question thanks for asking it. Smile Awesome responses - I too learned a lot from all the great respones. Wink

One thing I didn't see was this: Idea

Make sure you measure your body....chest, waist, hips, legs and arms. You may see a huge difference in the shape of your body without seeing the scale budge

Great job!! Good luck Very Happy

Simple snacks

I really like crunchy snacks AND i need a snack that would finish filling me up. So this is what i came up with. . .

1 cup of Fiber One cereal
1/2 serving dried cranberries (1 serving is 1/3 cup)
10 almonds

Combine it all in a sandwich bag.

I like honey clusters or raisin bran Fiber One b/c they have the highest fiber content. I occassionally throw in a few pumpkin seeds.

This snack will give you a good amount of fiber, something sweet after a meal, monounsaturated fatty acids (to fight belly fat), AND satisfies that hand-to-mouth habit many of us have.

Fabulous idea thank you!!

What do you truly wish for yourself besides weight loss?
Great question!! mine is a selfish wish. Aside from losing the weight and looking fabulous on my horse, I wish that I will have enough money to enter enough horse shows so I can have a successful show year. I did pretty good last year but I have new goals at a higher level this year. Ultimately, I wish I could open my own equestrian facility and be successful at it
