Embarrassing... and then, I decided to change.
Thank you for sharing, there is always that ONE moment in life that makes you think "Right, I'm done, I have to change now". I have two moments!

One, I stretched out in my sleep and pinched a nerve in my thigh. It was the most painful thing, I woke up and it felt like my thigh was on fire! I went to the doctors the next day (barely able to put any weight on my almost completely numb leg!) because I had no idea as to what had happened and my doctor said it was Meralgia Paresthetica...her exact words "we normally see this in pregnant women, the nerve becomes trapped as a result of the weight of their bellies". Oh my Goodness. I was shocked! That was a wake up call!

Second and final embarrassing moment was when I had to buy interview clothes for a new job I was going for. I hadn't bought any in a while and to be honest, although I had gained weight, my clothes kind of 'grew with me' and I didn't really notice the full extent because hey! They still fit! I went to a designer store in my town where a few girls from my college worked at the time, the few girls at college that I didn't get on with particularly well! The moment I picked up a size UK 12 (US 8_) and walked to the changing room one of the girls looked at me like "yeah right!" and the horror when I couldn't get even one leg inside the trousers. I came out of the changing room and got a size bigger, still too small. Size bigger, still too small. I was nearly in tears by this point and HAD to buy something as my interview was the next day so the worst moment of my life was when I had to walk to the check-out with my size UK 18-20 (US 14-16) clothes and have the girl I hated most (who probably weighed about 100lbs!) scan them and pack them for me after she had seen me pick up size 12's (US 8_) Sad THAT was the moment. I cried for 2 days and called into college sick because I didn't want to face her. That incident happened almost 1 year to this date exactly and it still haunts me to this day!Never again.

Thermodynamics? Not really...
Didn't actually read all of the 16 pages on here but serious question, I'm torn because I've always been taught that 'eat less, move more' is the way to do it but I've only ever noticed substantial weightloss when I've cut right back on my carb intake..to me, 500cals of carbs and 500cals of protein seem to affect my body completely differently from one another. I'm quite 'good' at losing weight, generally I lose between 1-2 lbs a week provided I have been super smart with my food choices and done some exercise - these last couple of weeks I have experimented with a VLCD (very low calorie diet for those who don't know!), in all honesty, I don't have enough energy to do a full workout so I have been walking for 40 minutes a day just to keep active and in the last 2 weeks I have lost 1.8lbs. I am eating (well, drinking) 600 calories a day, no more, so if it is as easy as 'calories in, calories out' why hasn't the huge deficit made a significant impact? I'm used to losing twice the amount on low carb/high protein so I'm not quite sure as to why this didn't work as it should have. And for the record, I will be looking forward to some lovely roasted chicken tonight, this liquid/shake drinking instead of food is hideous!

bone structure
I was thinking about this just yesterday! I remember being about 145 maybe even 150lbs at my lightest in my adult life and my goal is 125lbs. I need to re-measure and re-calculate my body fat percentage because honestly, I am 161lbs now and bones are already starting to surface! I've never been 125lbs since being a kid and I'm not even sure I could ever be that weight and not look sick...but who knows! I'm 5'4" so according to my BMI (Rolling Eyes) it is more than doable but I would say I am quite broad, I can see it now, my shoulders are starting to become boney but they are still broad. As are my hips. I have a ridiculous hour glass shape so I honestly don't think I will ever look tiny...my rib cage is also large so I probably have no hope of making it to a size 8 (US size 6)...We shall see! My mum always says "you'd be surprised how much fat can come off, even if your bones are showing already". Not sure how healthy that kind of mentalty is, but we shall see!
