Hello...
In Feb 2016 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and High Blood Pressure and Mild Sleep Apnia. I was extremely morbidly obese weighting in at 157kg. I am now on a lifetime of Medication for T2D and HBP. So on the advice of my Doctor I sort the help of a Dietician and together we worked on a menu plan and with my husband bringing in the only income we based most of our groceries if not all from Aldi since its only in the next block from where we live and have been buying from there for the last 10 years. I stuck to this menu plan changing out some meals for variety in the recent months. From the beginning I stop any foods made with flour I became gluten free and semi diary free, I say that because I still add a splash of milk into my coffee, I cant start the day without it. I don't eat a lot of red meat any more I go months not eating red meat cause now I can. I eat skinless chicken, Fish, Basmati Rice, Fruit, Raw & Cook vegies, Tuna in spring water, that's my favourite hot spicy tuna patties. Whole-wheat bread only 2 slices a day or gluten free wraps. No more mayo made with eggs, no cooking with bottled oil I use only spray and no more butter, its lite margarine now. Since following the plan from the Dietician I have lost 40kgs weighing now 117kg... I still have a long way to go but now I'm not knocking as hard on deaths door as I was in Feb. My Doctor continues to be pleased with my results as well as the Dietician which I no longer need to visit I now can monitor my own food intake because as he said "I'm in the right head space now." I keep a food journal and I no longer have to test my blood levels before and after every meal I only have to do it now on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th of each month and only before and after 1 meal in that day...
I don't know to much about calories or kilojoules but its something I'd like to learn more about. My recommended RDI is 2300 calories I don't think I eat half that in my daily meals as it is, will have to go th
