I think of myself as an athlete who doesn't stop because he's tired. Up until just the Fall of 2014 I was involved in recreational soccer and tennis while jogging/swimming on a regular basis.

Then the lower back"pressure" started. I slowed down on activity. 3 months later I was limping just around work. Pain in my right hip and knee with sciatic tingles, burning, pressure and numbness down to my toes. All activity stopped and the weight began to set in.

Turns out I have a condition called spondylolithesis, a slipping forward of my vertebrae, that is "pinching" the nerve to my right leg. It's a relatively common condition in athletes. There is no way to move it back. The best you can hope for is to get the swelling down and then strengthen your core to hold everything in the right spot.

So I'm trying to do my part. Get active again to get rid of the 17 pounds I gained and get me back to where I was. Sure there are injections and such (and I'm glad to try them) but the mainstay of any therapy is my own motivation. So here we go...
