I have been overweight most of my life. I am addicted to food. I am 65 years old, retired and ready to focus on my health/weight/diabetes. My diabetes has been under control with insulin and other meds. My last A1c was 7.4 (December) down from 9+. Update 4/20/16 A1c = 5.3
Since Jan 4th 2016 I have been DIETING. Actually trying to reduce my weight. Facing a 50% reduction in my body weight is overwhelming. I'll have to break it down into manageable pieces. So let's start with -10% -26 pounds. (done 3/15/16.)
2nd -10% = -23 pounds. Third 10% -21 (done 8/22/16) Fourth 10% -19.
Because I am morbidly obese, walking is even hard for me. My breathing is bad (COPD) and I have a bad knee. I am going to start this walking challenge tomorrow. Twenty minutes a day to begin with. Let's see how I do. The flare ups have been more frequent. Depressed.
Currently I am counting calories under 1200 and working at keeping my carbs around 50/day. (20 as of April) Weigh-in on Monday only.

First Day!! Let's do this!!
One day at a time. One meal to the next. Stringing days together creates a trend.. I had to make my WOE my top priority. When life starts to pull at my attention, I have to step back and remind myself to keep focused. For me, I have to look at this as "weight loss". I started with about 150 lbs to lose. It was overwhelming for me. I started with a mini goal: lose 10% of my body weight. Good luck with your journey. Find things that work for you and stick with it. Sarah

Looking for Buddies?
I'm struggling with "the next twenty pounds" . Have you considered the Beast Mode Challenge that is about to begin on Monday? Otherwise bmoggins is on the informal path to lose 17 by Nov 30. I have to lose 5 extra b/c I celebrate Thanksgiving in a big way. Reaching out to our helping hands is your key to success.

Sad
You might not be eating the right combination of food. You need some fats to spark a fat burn. Height has to be considered when setting RDI. I found that most plans do not allow enough significance for shorter people. 800 calories for 5'3" gal seems really low, but what is your activity level? I am only 4'11" and very sedentary. For me, 1000 per day will result in about -3 lbs per month or less. I'm not a scientist or medical professional, but would you feed a Dobermin Pincer the same diet as a Chihuahua?
At my starting point of 130 pounds to lose, the weight dropped easier. But even in my sedentary ways I was hauling more weight with every step I took. It seems logical that I'm doing less now that I've lost 60 pounds.
