Started all over. My mom died, and so for almost 2 years I didn't care about anything. She'd be pissed at me for gaining all this weight back.

So, I am on the Metabolism Miracle Diet. It's a lower carb diet and I have lost almost 40 pounds in 23 weeks. :) It comes off slow, so that is good. And I am very happy with the results.

Though it says I am doing my own diet, I am not. They just don't offer that choice.

Hey Atkins people - why lie?
Nay sayers drive me crazy. Does it really matter to you that much why we like to do Atkins, or the science behind it? I mean Fredmug, I see your daily caloric intake is generally around 1200-1300. That is extremely low for a male in your age range. But no one is judging you for that.

Perhaps the science in Atkins is not exact. But millions of people have lost weight successfully and in a healthy manner. It stresses more on eating vegetables and meat and later on fruits and nuts with small amounts of grains, which is what we as humans should be eating.

There is nothing wrong with it. Stop worrying about others and concentrate on yourselves people. If a certain way of eating works for you, that is all that matters. Smile

What is your typical daily calorie count on Atkins?

I just wanted to clarify this. I did read the books and it does say to eat regular fat meats BUT after an00bis' post I needed to look it up on the Atkin's website. You can eat lean meats BUT you must make up for the fats you are not getting in ways of butter, oils etc...
See quote below

"5.INCLUDE PROTEIN IN EVERY MEAL. Have 4 to 6 ounces of protein at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can be red meat, poultry, fish or tofu and can be lean or fatty; even marbled cuts of beef are fine. When you eat leaner cuts, be sure to use plenty of olive oil or other healthy oils on your salads and cooked veggies."

Thank you! I find people funny. I even stated I just don't like fatty meat. And think about it, if you eat alot of fatty meat which is not the healthy omega 3 fats, then it's unhealthy.

What is your typical daily calorie count on Atkins?
Hello all. I've been on atkins for two weeks now and my daily caloric intake is around 1100-1300 a day. Vegetables don't have many calories and the meat, well I try to eat the lean stuff. And I don't go over board on the meat either. I've lost as of today (official weigh in is tomorrow) 11 pounds in my first two weeks.

I think if you are around 1100-1500 for a woman, you are fine. Maybe 1300-1600 for a male on this diet. But it also depends alot on how much weight you have to lose. Myself... when I started -- 100 pounds. Goal weight is 125.

Good luck to you all and I am happy there's a place like this for all of us to learn from one another. Smile
