Hiya! 49 year old Canadian female, I work for a human rights based org in the public sector. I have a brilliant partner, a lot of teenagers (two of them are even mine!), dogs, cats, lizards and a tarantula...actually, I had nothing to do with the acquisition of the lizards or the tarantula so I just pretend they don't exist. A recent diabetes diagnosis has resulted in a renewed interest in weight loss - I've lost weight on WW over the years...SEVERAL times...so this time I'm going to be a bit more realistic about it. I don't want to be obsessed with every bite I put into my mouth, I just want to live healthy and make better choices. Good luck, all!

So today I learned a couple of things...
I learned that if you send your kid to get Halloween candy for the trick or treaters, he may well pick up something gross that you don't like, and therefore will not eat. WHY any son of MINE would think that hard candy sucker-rings were a good idea is completely beyond me...I don't know where I went WRONG, with him! Wink Anyway, that turned out GREAT...because those things can stay in the house til the cows come home, and I'll certainly never eat them, they're revolting AND sticky. Eww. So the other thing I learned is that if you go and buy yourself a bunch of very expensive no sugar added chocolate and salt water taffy so that you can binge on Halloween, even though you're a diabetic....you still feel like absolute crap after you eat it, sitting on your couch like a great fat Buddha, cookie monster style with taffy wrappers flying around you. Bleah. All things in moderation, they say...now if I could just figure out what "moderation" meant...Wink Woof. Need water - I think I have a splenda hangover. Have a beautiful day!

Weird what you crave
I wasn't diagnosed "pre", I was diagnosed type II, but no meds as of yet. The diagnosis was only at the beginning of March, and my doc wanted a few months to see what diet change and exercise would do to the lab results. Haven't been back to the lab...scared to, really. I've changed my eating habits and dropped nearly 30 lbs, but exercise? Yeah....not so much.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Once a week, but I'm thinking of dropping the weigh-ins for a while - I KNOW when I've been eating well or poorly. Like Amanda, I just stress over it - what's the point? If it's truly a lifestyle change, and not a "diet", then my body will adjust accordingly. I don't think the creation of excess stomach acid and adrenalin from the stress incurred burns any calories Wink
