I am a 55 yr. old father of three and have recently put a stop to my endless spiral of poor health and moderate obesity.

I wasn't always overweight and sluggish and I want to chisel away at the old Randy and find the person I was as a younger, healthier man.

Time to get off my butt, get off the carbs, and get off the med's! Heading for 200 lbs and a healthy lifestyle.

How to change the diet I am following
Not sure of your diet - low carb high fat? Low carb is good - good fats (MUFA's) monounsaturated fats are good. High protein would be necessary to build lean mass, lower inflamation and insulin resistance.

Get off all trans fats like hydrogenated fats or oils and minimize saturated fats. Instead go with olives and olive oil, avacado, seeds & nuts, fish oils, and dark chocolate

A little help
I have had trouble losing weight even though I hit it hard at the trainer 4-5 days per week. My weight loss caim only after I really started watching my diet and reduced my carbs.

Protein should be 1 gram per lb of lean body mass and carbs should be under 100; ideally under 50 grams if you want real sucess.

Calories listed for sleep, rest, and exercise
All the calories used will be base on your weight and will go down as you lose weight. The good news is if you are getting in shape and building lean mass then you will consume more fat calories and your loss will be fat not muscle.

Need ideas for more PROTEIN please!
Try for at least 2:1 protein over carbs and keep the saturated fats down. Tilapia is a great source for protein, so is turkey or chicken.

Keep the carbs low, like 50g per day, and you will lose weight.
