I have been overweight for 20 years getting as high as 283 lbs. the last 8 years have been a yoyo between 265-239 staying mostly around 260. I have tried everything HCG, weight watchers, Lindora each time starts well and then I go back to overeating and gain the weight back.
A year ago my grandson was born and I started to look at how I would feed him this amazing healthy food and take him to the park for lots of exercise. All the things I didn't do for myself. When he started to eat food, I jokingly said I was going on the (babies) diet. I would only eat food I would share with my grandson. This was awesome, I cleaned out the pantry, stopped drinking diet soda and processed snacks. I started to feel better. I still struggled, so I read lots of books on nutrition and started to find a path to Vegan living. This was not something I had ever considered before, in fact I thought Vegans were a bit touched in the head, OMG what about the protein?
I read even more, watched the documentary Forks over Knifes and became even more certain this was a choice that would help my very obese body heal
My cholesterol & blood pressure were high, although for some reason my blood sugar was normal to low, I got a physical weighed in at 263.
Six weeks later I had only lost about 10 pounds but I was eating lots of good vegan food & learning to cook vegan, I never felt hungry & my blood pressure was normal, cholesterol was almost normal for the first time in 20 years, I became a believer. The next phase was serious weight loss, for some reason, probably the years of yoyo dieting, my body needs very low carbs & calories to lose weight, I'm impatient & want the weight off so I'm currently willing to be extra careful with what I put in my body.
Vegan eating is a lifestyle, cooking is a must in order to get more satisfied with my meals, but I feel amazed with the way my health is changing. The next adventure is exercise, the grandson is learning to run & i want to keep up with him :-)
