I've always had the ability to gain weight easily. Great when you are young and lifting weights, but not so much when you hit 50 and spend most of your time behind a desk. My build has always been that of a linebacker or Scandinavian stone lifter versus a long distance runner or ripped lean dude on the cover of men's magazine - and I have come to accept that. The diet says I am doing Atkins or Paleo but this is incorrect. Really, I have been mostly following the Primal diet via Mark's Daily Apple and doing some intermittent 5-2 or 5-1 fasting or 16-8 as I feel like it. I am by no means a zealot. I refuse to give up corn tortillas, tortilla chips and salsa. Plus, I like a good bourbon too : ) Everything in moderation including moderation! In the end this sort of mishmash plan has worked pretty well for me. I've gone from 235lbs with high cholesterol etc. to 205lbs - relatively painlessly; albeit slowly. My blood work is now A+. I don't really use the food portion of the site anymore except on some fast days to check calorie counts (600 is my target). I weigh my self infrequently and just kind of go by feel mostly. If I would really buckle down I know could now get below my goal weight pretty easily. I believe slow and steady wins this race and am not totally hung up on a number but more on how I feel.
