I have been big off and on my entire life. As a child I was active until Nintendo came around and I started to back on the pounds, then around the 6th great (many years ago) I fell in love with the outdoors and started hiking and such, I shed a lot of the weight until I graduated from High School and went to college (for my first try). I became very depressed and packed the pounds back on. Next I started working in Casino's and there is an "image" requirement (unspoken rule) so I worked out every day and took way too many diet pills and of course I lost weight but I was very unhealthy (with the cigarette smoke in the casino, the really bad hours, and all the diet pills, but i looked good LOL) and now I have just (2008) graduated from college (BSN) and started a new job as an Infection Control Nurse (lots of desk work) and through my 4 years in school and the last year and a half behind a desk I am bigger than ever, I only estimated the weight I put in for my first "weigh in" because my home scale will not weigh me any more. So I am hoping for some help and the app for my android phone will help a lot too (I seem to do well calorie counting). I will try to stay active and I will look forward to any support I can get. Phil

New member. need some tips on not eating at night
@Irade8u Thank you for this question. Something that a lot of people (like me) struggle with and it is good to know that I am not the only one Smile.

@everyone that replied, thank you so much for this info I cannot tell you how much my snacking at night has cause me shame and embarrassment. I love the ideas about hot tea (one of my favorite things) and just making sure I have healthy snacks to much on instead of chips and candy. It makes a lot of since but until i heard that it is okay to snack (wisely) I hid and did it and always wanted comfort food because it was embarrassing. Thank you all once again.

Does anyone know of a easy way to look up the ingredients and make the info block?

Thanks in advance.

Wow I'm Not Alone
Thanks a bunch, I know that most people (me included) do well with others looking over a shoulder and I know that others get to see what I eat (when i put it in the diary) and that will keep me from doing too much over eating. It feels like a lie when i don't put it in the diary and I don't like to lie.

Thanks for the comments.

@DReno, Thanks for the welcome I am glad to be here. Looks like you are on your way to your goal keep it up.

@mahara, good to know there are other newbies out there just like me and I look forward to hearing about your progress as well.

Lets all work together and get healthy.

Wow I'm Not Alone
I have to say I have tried other sites and some diets, I just didn't seem to have the will to keep it up. This is the first time I have used one of these "introduce" forum posts. I have some support at work, and I am sure that I can get support at home. I will try to keep up with my journal, and food and exercise entries. I know there are no over night cures for obesity so I hope to be in this, this time, for the long haul.

Well with all that said, Hello Everyone, I look forward to reporting my progress (and set backs) and hearing how other are doing. It is great to not be alone.
