In Oct 2011 my weight was 62kg. Now not even 2 years later I'm on 76kg! What happened!!!?

Financial stress and emotional eating....

I am cutting out the carbs - flower, sugar, rice, potatoes, bread, pasta, serials, confectionery. I am following a high protein, high fat diet and cutting carbs to around 50g per day.

It would be so good to be under 70kg for my birthday in December! I'm aiming for 65kg by the end of Dec! A tough thing to do over the festive season...

Dialysis/diabetic diet
She is nearly 80 years old so unfortunately it's hard to get recipe's from her. I know she eats mostly frozen veg which she has to soak in water for a couple of hours before she cooks it. Sorry Smile

Dialysis/diabetic diet
My mother-in-law is on a kidney/diabetes diet. she has been on it for about 2 years now and is healthier than before. It is quite restrictive. It has been worth it for her though as she has not been in hospital since she started it.

Carbs
Mariska, remember its not the protein that fills you but the healthy fats. That is why you have to make sure to cook with butter/coconut oil and eat nuts and avo and olive oil. Even a tin of sardines if you like fish.

Carbs
Hi Connie

Corn, crackers, pretzels and Noodles are also high in Carbs and not the healthy types.

Try to cut them out and replace it with nuts rather. If you feel you need some bread try to only eat Low GI or seeded breads and no more than 3 x per week should help.

Starting again
Hi Jenny

If you are South African I'm sure you have heard of Prof Tim Noakes the sports doctor and nutritionist. Go Google him and you will find some great info on diets for type 2 diabetes. Definitely worth the read.
