My name is Kristen, I am 29 years old and I am a mommy to an active 6 year old boy. I work during the day and attend nursing school at night, time is not an option. My weight has gone up and down for the last 10 years, nothing new. I am type 2 diabetic and have a hypothyroid, the only difference is is that NOW I care. I was diagnosed when I was 13 with the hypothyroid and 19 with type 2. Over the last few years I have been trying to keep my weight controlled and its been a struggle. Last year I did great, I was down to 178 lbs and my A1C was at 5%. I also have asthma, with a job change and lack of insurance I was in and out of the doctors office with bills and bottles filled with steroids. I'm a little embarrassed that I have let it get to this point again and sit at 217 lbs. I love to eat, I am an emotional eater and often finish what my son doesn't finish, you know...cant let that food go to waste! Laughing I was a runner, and lifted weights so all that food didn't matter and didn't effect my diabetes. Now it is time to start again, hopefully I will gain the momentum I need and stay there. Right now my girlfriend and I have created our own weight loss competition, anything that acts as a motivator is a good start!

this is great advice guys thank you so much! I am a constant eater and sometimes eat before I am hungry. It is always so easy for my sodium and carbs to shoot up. I see that this has everything to do with planning ahead.

My first challenge starts in 6 hours, to consume no more than 50g of carbs a day. This seems like mission impossible for a carb-a-holic like myself. Wish me luck!Shock

Day 2
Yes, Day 2 is better than Day 1. I guess I have to readjust myself to the idea that being hungry sometimes is ok. I need to bring snacks to work.
