Im a 25 year old first time mom. I am an RN but am on Maternity leave untill the end of April 2008. I had just started LA weight loss last September at 159lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I was only on the program one week when I had to put it on hold. I got up to a whopping 211lbs when pregnant but within a week after her birth I was at 170lbs. Since then I havent taken anymore weight off. Now my daughter is 6 months old and I am ready to start taking off the rest of the baby weight plus about 30lbs more! I really want to change my who eating life style to be a better role model for my daughter.

EDIT: since first starting I am now a 35 year old mom of 3! Last baby was born July 5th. I weighed 208 when I delivered but now am stuck at 181lbs. Time to lose the weight (again)!

I need will power
I stocked up on fruits, veggies, whole grains. I get lots of temptation but always have a healthy alternative on hand. I am avoiding restraunts like the plague! I even only bring my packed lunch with no wallet to work. It keeps me from eating at the cafeteria.

I also agree that small amounts of healthy fat are essential. I Made homemade guacamole the other day and ate a tbsp a day this week with different meals.

My mind would have to be my biggest tool though. My parents are morbidly obese and both really unwell. There only in their 50's and seeing that gives me strenght to push forward, particularly for my kids. I want to be active with them for 60 more years. When I want chips, I think of them.

I've Lost the Weight, Now What?
Im actually struggling a little now that Ive lost all the weight. For the last couple of months I weigh myself everymorning and planned my day around losing weight and reaching goals. Now Ive lost it and feel kinda lost. I want to continue to eat healthy and eat proper porportions but feel a strong urge to keep dieting because it was getting me so much feed back. Soon people will quit telling me how great I look because it will be normal me. That kinda worries me.

Fellow Canadian LAWLer's ... Looking for a LA Lite sub. that's avail in Canada
I dont do the bars cause the $$$ and because in the long run I dont think it helps you make that lifestyle change (thats just a personal opinion though.) I just dont think its feasable for someone to eat 2 LA weightloss bars a day for the rest of their life. Thats also why I dont do any supplements. The only thing I do take is a multivitamin just in case Smile

Pregnant, now what
Well Congradulations on the pregnacy!!! I also had to take a leave from LA weightloss the first time I started because I was pregnant. Its almost good to have started it first A) becuase your starting out at a healthier weight and b) it really helped me take off the baby weight after!!! Its totally motivating to keep going.

Dont follow the diet but follow healthy eating that you've learned while on the diet. Eat fruits and veggies, lean meats, whole grains. Use low fat diary and healthy oils in your coooking. You will of course put on weight but your also providing very nutritious food to yourself and your baby.

I treated my body like a garbage compacter when I was pregnant and put on 50lbs. I dont recommend doing that. Im really sad I didnt realize how the food I ate during pregnacy would effect my child as well. I was sorta selfish and ate allot of junk food and whatever else I could get my dirty mits on.

I think everything that LA weight loss has taught me will really help me next time when Im pregant. I will ask myself would I feed my 9 month old pop? slurpees? potatoe chips? Probably not. You probably wouldnt either. So dont give them those poor nutrients before there born.

I hope this helps Smile Congrats on the pregnacy again!!!!
