I am a 34 year old married father of 4. (Number four just joined us on May 17th, 2011. 3 years ago I took up trail biking and running in concjunction with a major diet shift due to the health of my middle son. I lost nearly 100 lbs, felt great, and was more fit then I had ever been in my life.
Since then, I have discovered several harsh truths about myself. I have sleeping disorder which is compounded by my weight (in other words, the heavier I get the harder it is do anything about it). I am an all or nothing kind of guy. I either dive in or walk away. I am also a stress eater with a life long bad relationship to food quantity. Doesn't matter what it is apples or pizza, I eat too much of it.
I am teacher who has been through two of the most stressful years of my life. Grade level changes, administration changes, team changes, added responsibilites and pay cuts (with more on the horizon). Put that together with my stress eating habbits and then do the math. I have put back nearly 70 pounds of the 100 I lost. I WILL NOT BE THAT HEAVY AGAIN! My life depends on it. My family depends on it. My happiness depends on it.
By the end of 2011: Lose 40+ pounds, run at least one 5k, and continue working out at least 3 days a week during the school year.
