Well - I missed my goal by 2 pounds. I had wanted to be 135 by 8/31. August was going to be a hard month, but I thought 135 was realistic even with all the birthdays and other celebrations. I weighted 137 several days mid-week, but I had several glasses of wine and a small dish of ice cream on Friday. Saturday's weigh in was SCARY. Luckily, I am back at 137. Had I not indulged on Friday I am sure I would have hit goal. It's a good reminder to keep disciplined.

So, while the pounds were slightly off, there are two items to celebrate: 1) I am glad for the reminder to stay disciplined. I was getting a bit too comfortable with my success. And, 2) while August did not show much change via the scale, it has showed strong progress in my clothes. Into my size 8s at the beginning of the month, and by months end I am wearing many of my 6s. And the size 10s are Outta Here. Gave them away. Will never need them again.

I will be at 130 by 9/30. No doubt, no hesitation -- just discipline.

Motivation... can be derailed by success.

Three months ago I bit the bullet and bought bigger clothes. But it motivated me to get busy and get "me" back. After a bit of playing at losing weight, I got serious and have now dropped 15 pounds. I got back into my former "large" clothes. And now those are getting too big and I'm on the way to my "good" wardrobe. It's the weird phase between sizes when the one size looks loose, and the smaller size is tight-fighting and therefore makes you look worse. I mean, I COULD stay here. I'm within normal BMI and am at an ok weight for my height - but I'm still plump. So, I have to kick it up a notch, find the motivation, and get these last 10 pounds gone. I downloaded a couple programs on my phone yesterday to help me track weight-lifting. I know that is what I need to do next, so, if I track it I'll do it. So, I suppose that means I should sign off of here, and go get busy on those programs. Figure out which one is the right program for me and start working out. So... Ciao a tutti!

Saturday morning dawned with a beautiful sunrise shining through wisps of fog. Beautiful outside - inside though is a daughter with 4 weeks left of pregnancy going through tough times. At 5 ft 1 inches she normally weighs 112. That 112 is muscle from running, alot, so she is tiny. She only gained 30 pounds but it is stressing her body to the max. And as her husband works long hours she is alone often. He left for work about 7 this morning. Neither of them got any sleep due to her muscle and body pains, cramps, etc. The one thing I bring this daughter (who adores her father and often can only tolerate me) is that I can help her relax. As soon as her husband left for work she laid on the couch with her head in my lap and I stroked her face and hair for two hours. She slept. Kids...no matter what they put you through, you'd do anything to make their world better....

So I will head home tonight but will return her in a couple of weeks to help her through the last weeks of her pregnancy and then during first weeks of motherhood.

Looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. It has been a week since last visit to the scale. I think I have done a good job while up here so I am hopeful for a 1 pound (or more!) loss. But as I have been less active as (except for my running) I have been on daughter's schedule. And working with her kitchen and cravings. On Friday nights they order pizza and wings. I have not had pizza in forever! But I did eat one slice of Papa John's small sausage pizza and one wing. Dinner was under 300 calories...and I left the table so that I would not have any more than that. So, tomorrow, weigh in.... we shall see.
