I am married with 2 children. We lead a very active lifestyle, work, church, sports activites. While we eat healthy food items, I have not been able to get my weight down below 180-185 pounds for several years, so I decided to use fat secrets to chart my progress. One thing that I totally gave up was fast food of any kind. If the item was high calorie, the portions are huge and I need to watch both of those things. I'm making progress and feel confident that I'll be able to maintain my goal weight.

trouble losing weight from the start
When I first started, I limited my calories to 1000 a day. I had no luck and with the help of this site and research, I upped my calories to 1200, weighed and measured everything I ate and increased my exercise. I've lost 12 lbs in about 6 weeks and I'm going to start with a core/weight plan to kick it up. This site has a great deal to offer.

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
I'm an older mom of a 6 year old and need to be around to see her graduate from college! I also want to look good regardless of what I'm wearing! While I tend to be conservative in my dress, I'd love to wear something trendy and @ 180lbs, its hard to find things that don't look like a mumu! So, I've started watching my portion sizes, calories, increasing my exercise and looking forward to feeling better in general!

Calorie Count too restrictive?
My beginning weight on 1/24/11 was 180lbs and I'm 5'7" tall. In 15 days I've lost 6 lbs. I have been tracking what I'm eating limiting my calories to 1000 a day. Today someone told me that I'm being too restrictive with my calorie intake, that I should be eating 1200 a day? My goal weight is 145/150 pounds, then from there who knows. I am using the treadmill 2X's a week for an hour each time? Any suggestions? LCM
