I live in Santa Fe, NM and have two daughters. I've lost 40 pounds from my highest point (several years ago). Last fall I took a job an hour away and the commuting has taken a bit of a toll. In the last few weeks I think I have lost the extra weight that I put on after taking this job. I just want to keep it off and lose another 25. I recently joined the gym and that has made a big change in my life.

The hardest part for me has been finding the time to exercise and the time to prepare healthy meals...and remembering to take a lunch rather than eating out.

How to deal with critics
Just keep hanging in there and remember you are doing this for yourself and no one else. For me, it was detrimental when people would judge me on my weight. I would get kind of obstinate and lose all my motivation because people should accept me for who I am, right. Well, that attitude didn't help me to lose weight. Now, I just tell people that I appreciate their support, but I am more motivated by positive encouragement.

I have been on both. Atkins was very easy for me - because I didn't have to think much. I just ate meat and I ended up losing about 40 pounds. I was never hungry and I pretty much didn't eat very much at all. However, I gained it back very quickly. My face did clear up, but other than that, I didn't look so great. It caused some digestive problems for me that I'm still dealing with. And I JUST CAN'T STAND that much meat. Now, I pretty much am on WW, but mostly just trying to keep points below 20 and eat lots of fiber. I really missed fruits and veggies on the Atkins. Now, I just feel much healthier and more balanced.
