I was underweight and very unhealthy as a very young child but around the age of 8 I became "chubby" and stayed that way all through high school and beyond. Everyone in my immediate family was either obese or morbidly obese - I really thought that I would just have to live with being big for the rest of my life. I kept creeping up the scale but when I hit 195 I knew it was time to try something radical. After all - our health is one of the most important things we have - I had to try to protect mine from sliding further down a very slippery slope...

I started Slim4Life at 195 pounds, June 16th and now I really can't remember what year it was LOL but I think it was 2007 or 2008.

doing this on your own
Hey Yogagirl! Smile I went through a session with S4L a couple years ago and lost over 50 pounds. I have been creeping ever so slowly back up the scale so I decided to get back on the wagon recently as well! I am taking fish oil and a multivitamin, but I am buying generic brands because I dont have the funds to go buy Slimgenics products - the plan works wonders but boy do they have a heck of a markup on products! (one of the reasons I was most happy to FINISH the plan)

The most challenging thing for me is trying to decide what "snack" to use since I am avoiding their products and doing it on my own. It is difficult to find a snack that is 10 - 16 grams protein for 1oo - 160 calories. I have decided to try just eating Fage Greek yogurt because it has an amazing protein to calorie ratio - I just hope the extra dairy won't throw a wrench into the program... but I really hate over processed foods on top of it so I don't really want to be eating some bizarre formulated "snack" bar.

Best of luck with it! Very Happy

I was always a breakfast fan so one of my favorite things to make was French toast.

1 egg + 2 tbsp out of your dairy/skim milk portion
2 pieces of bread

Make french toast as per usual.

Topping:

1 Tbsp smart balance
1 packet of splenda

put that together in a bowl and cream it together with a fork and then split that onto the two pieces of french toast!

Fantastic breakfast Smile

also, their cook book is only $25 and will give you a TON of ideas.
