I'm a 66 year old man who recently learned he had diabetes. My doctor told me if I carefully maintain my blood sugar level, eat a proper diet and exercise, I should be able to sustain a healthy lifestyle for many years.
FatSecret has been a wonderful tool for tracking my carbohydrate intake and I also plan to use it for losing some weight. I track my meals to the nearest gram even though it's probably an overkill.
I'm averaging an energy deficit of about 800 KCal a day and will be curious how this affects my weight loss as time goes on. I think it's more complicated than just counting calories this way, but there must be some weight loss with such a deficit. It's too early yet to tell.
