I am a diabetic and the Diabetic Society recommended their "plate" method it works well for me, a plate (small for lunch) a little larger for dinner, containing one half vegetables that grow above the round (you can included carrots),one quarter protein (any protein and that includes beans ) one quarter carbs.

I eat porridge every morning, with a tablespoon of homemaade unsweetened low fat yogurt, and a spoonful of diet jam, I have three pieces of fruit a day.

No sugar or anything that contains sugar ( with a small sugar treat once a week). very little fats, and only two tabs good oil daily.

I have lost 10 kilos gradually with ten more to go, and at 78 yrs, I am feeling far less tired , I am fitter, sleep better, my skin is better and I am not hungry.

At least four glasses of water daily. and I do attend aerobic classes for seniors twice a week.
Best of all I do not need insulin pills or injections.

the carbs were the hardest to control.
Try it and feel good again. Kiwi Jenny
