performance: losing 3.3 lb a week
I am 59 years old, married with 2 adult children and 2 beautiful grandchildren. Husband and I retired together and decided it was time to lose weight, get in shape to live out our retirement years in the healthiest way possible.
I've spent the last year and a half losing 83 lbs and need to lose about 30 more. I started on Atkins and transitioned to ketogenic Low Carb High Fat way of eating, probably for life. I feel better and it has changed my life. I do not eat processed foods, breads, rice, pastas, corn, potatoes or any starches. Many benefits for me not eating gluten. I have learned a lot about this diet, my body, and what works for me.
Reached my biggest challenge in weighing under 200 lbs for the first time in almost 20 years. I've come this far so there is no reason I can't keep on losing. Just have to acknowledge that weight loss slows way down the less you have to lose, especially if you've been at it quite awhile!
Update: I have gained 4 lbs since last spring 2014, so now back to tracking and sticking to basics of Atkins induction. Carbs creep back in so easily even if you think you are sticking to LCHF. Too many keto treats add up !
Update 08/04/15: I lost the extra 4 lbs and then some, total of 88 lbs. Had to lower my calories, protein and doing IF. Those tweaks made the difference.
