Start Weight
234.0 lb
Lost so far: 84.8 lb

Current Weight
149.2 lb
Performance: losing 5.6 lb a week

Goal Weight
142.0 lb
Still to go: 7.2 lb
Chapter 4 of my FS bio -- I recommitted to FS in September 2015, weighing in at 186.8, just about 7 pounds more than I'd weighed when I left the community, but of course, in the interim I'd gained and re-lost almost 50 pounds! In 2016 I got down to 157-58. Then, my weight just stabilized. I was still sticking pretty well to plan, but I think I was adding in more extras than I should have been. In the past couple of weeks, I seem to have gotten back on track, and sure enough, my weight is edging downward again.

On the one hand, I didn't meet any of the goals I set for myself in 2016 -- except -- and this is important I think, I kept the weight off. I never got discouraged. I just kept doing what I know I have to do to keep the weight off, and I'm pretty proud of myself for sticking with it.

Where do I go from here? -- Slowly, patiently, at my usual rate of .5-.75 pounds per week, get down to my original goal of 142. It would be great if I could do it by year's end, but I'm not going to rush myself. I'm so excited by the prospect of getting below 150 by the end of the summer! If I can see "14" on the scale, I will be ecstatic.

Feeling so grateful to have the Fatsecret community supporting me. I don't think I could have done this without FS.

New goals for the next few months:
- Stay on plan 90% of the time
- When going off plan, minimize the damage: one splurge meal or treat and then back in the saddle again
- Keep carbs to fat + protein ratio at 40% carbs to 60% fat + protein
- Keep carbs in the 140-160 range
- Work to get calories down below 1500
- Get back into regular exercise -- 3x per week
- Drop below 150 by 9-15-17

The Olive Oil Scandal
Want to be sure all my FS buddies have read this article about olive oil. Make sure the oil you are buying is the real thing!

How to curb late night eating?
Here's something shocking: There's research now that I read in the past few months that it is not true that late night eating puts on more weight than eating any other time during the day. So I have solved the problem by saving up calories during the day so I can have a snack in the evening without inflating my calorie or carb count for the day. I look closely at my food log before I choose my evening snack, and I make sure that I choose something that reflects the choices I've made elsewhere during the day. Sometimes that means I can have an ounce of cheese. Sometimes it means I can have strawberries with yogurt. Just depends on the day. My point is, snacking in the evening is only evil if you have eaten to the top of your RDI and your snack puts you over the top.

Turning yogurt into dessert
Ingria -- I have eaten low-glycemic for a number of years, but 2 years ago I contracted a food-borne infection and I have had IBS-A ever since. So I've had to overlay low FODMAP on top of low Glycemic, which is very complicated. I am able to eat peaches now, although I limit the amount. But "ol" sweeteners do not agree with me at all, so I avoid anything "sugar free." If I want something sweet, I use good old turbinado raw sugar or 100% maple syrup. But it is possible to eat low glycemic AND low FODMAP, in fact there's a lot of cross-over between these two WOEs. But it does mean you have to be very careful.

Unfortunately, many protein powders have sweeteners not permitted on low FODMAP diets. But if you don't have IBS, this is a great idea.
