I am 43 years old and single mother of 23 year old young man.

My son just joined the Army and is currently at Bootcamp.

I told him that while he was gone,,,I was going to see what I can do to match the weight loss he is experiencing.

Most days I am really excited about the prospect of low-carb lifestyle, I have been naturally gravitating to more of a ketogenic diet. I am not as hungry, but I have to watch for excessive calories and try to keep my macros in line.

I still dream of a box of krispy kreme donuts,,,and I am not even hungry.

Hi Newbies,,
This website is really great, try out all of the tools and find which ones work for you. I personally find the food diary the most helpful,,but I would suggest joining a challenge. Challenges help you stay motivated and you get to meet and talk to more people doing the same stuff you are.

Hello from VA
Hi Brian,
I started with this website back in March and I am down 24lbs as of this week.

My advice would be no matter what use the food diary and write down every single thing you eat and drink. Even if you dont change your eating habits for a while just keep track. The act of having to write it down, and that everyone can see it (if you want), may stop you from eating as much. I like the exercise log too, but i am not a good about logging everything there.

So even when you cheat,,write it down.

Good luck! This is the beginning of something great,,so enjoy this process. If you need to vent,,,you know where to go!!

First Plateau, very depressed. :(
I was in a plateau for about a month,,,i was eating right and exercising and nothing was happening. I was doing so well at first and when the scale did not move for weeks. I was getting depressed and felt like quitting. Everyone kept telling me to keep going, and eventually the scale would move again.

Well I didnt feel like it but I kept on eating right,,,but then I did something else. I DIDNT GO TO GYM FOR A WHOLE WEEK!! bad right? I kept eating right and keeping the calories and fat down. I didnt get on the scale for 2 more weeks.

I weighed in on Saturday morning and the scale is moving again.

So I will tell you !!! Dont give up, it will come. Try changing something in your routine. Change calories, or workout, or dont get on scale for 2 weeks.
