Starting Over on my quest for a normal weight. A sedentary lifestyle, many autoimmune disorders, old injuries from a previously very active life, make getting down to a healthy weight a real trick. I have one religion and won't make 'dieting' another one. I stopped thinking of foods as good or bad but am very aware of what works for me and what does not...avoiding almost all commercially prepared items. I like to use simple basic proteins, fruit, and vegetables in a wide variety of ways. I am remiss when it comes to vegetables lately and am not really sure why. I love vegetables, especially roasted roots and crisp, fresh green ones.

For activity, a lot of sitting. For a couple years I was heavily time-invested in writing eight novels and adapting several into screenplays but once they got published, I've taken a vacation from writing to focus on real life and getting stronger and healthier. I enjoy being creative (very necessary for me) so I've begun working at another life-long goal of learning to paint in watercolor. Newest of the new at this but picking the virtual brains of several pros and using what feels right. Fun!

How many calories should I have a day
Shorty, it depends a lot on how active you are and whether you're trying to lose or gain weight, as well as your metabolic efficiency. With those factors in mind, you then will be able to get at least a ballpark answer. Ha-ha, the only nickname I had in school was Shorty. I've now shrunk to 4'10 1.2". I'll soon be 83. I try to stay under 1300 calories in 24 hour days. I don't care about quickly losing, prefer steady and sustainable while enjoying the food that works well for me. As I've lost weight, I'm now trying to be more active (just because I want to be.) I don't want to lose any more muscle than absolutely unavoidable so am careful to have a good level of protein daily.

So I'm a Little Liar
I have said that I avoid any commercially prepared/processed 'food' but then see that's not 100% true. I usually have Polish kielbasa in the fridge and use it as seasoning/flavoring in salads, eggs, or whatever. And the very occasional dog treat. (It's not good for dogs either.) Bad Grin

Consume RDI calories or aim for lower amount for weight-loss?
Those unilaterally established RDI numbers presume normal metabolic rate. Really, how many of us who need, want, and are trying to lose weight are running on a properly functioning metabolism. Listen to your body; the numbers are a 'guideline' and we do best considering them and then adjusting for our own bodies.

No Trulicity for a few Weeks--Wegovy?!
Well, update on the med issue. The pharmacy notified me that there is "a delay" on filling my Rx for next one for Mounjaro because it, too, is out of stock now. I genuinely feel bad for folks who need and want it but I'm happy for me. This way I can not use it without putting my NP in the middle between me and the medical higher-ups who might chastise or even censure her for going along with my personal program to get into remission without a med.
