Hi I am a 36, married with two children aged 3 and 21 months. Work part time as an IT Trainer and part time with my own business. Love food, wine, chocolate and everything that I shouldn't. My husband is a fab cook and keeps tempting me with new recipes. I love shopping especially shoes. I like reading, music, cinema, socialising with friends. Hate dieting and have had to make myself start doing regular exercise as all I tend to do is run round after kids.

help I need some motivation
hello, I am feeling fat and fed up and a big failure.

I was doing ok until Monday when I travelled away to a family funeral. Really good having bitesize shredded wheat before I left then we stopped at services. feeling peckish so I had a brown roll with some sausage and bacon in it (which I did share with my Dad). realy good lunchtime, had a chicken salad and avoided biscuits and cakes after funeral but then on way home started feeling travel sick so stopped at garage and I had my usual cure - salt and vineagar crisps. while there spotted mint aero which just jumped into my hand and an egg and cress sandwich!! Ate sandwich and crisps on way home but resisted chocolate. when I got home my husband had made me vegetables with wholemeal pasta and bought a bottle of wine so I indulged. Then yesterday I not only ate the chocolate but I also bought a walnut whip later in the day because I was feeling down. Had an oven chip and tomato sauce sandwich for lunch followed by two rounds of cheese on toast in afternoon. What is the matter with me. Really want to lose weight, got a bridesmaids dress hanging in my wardrobe that I can't do up yet I loose willpower so easily when I am feeling down. Aargh!!! I despair and need a good kick up the posterior!!!

Sonoma vs. Mediterranean
i have blown it. went to a funeral yesterday very long journey there and back with breakfast lunch and tea at services. Had a bacon and sausage roll for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch then sandwich crisps and chocolate for tea! Plus wine and today I have had cheese on toast and chocolate!! Feel so annoyed with myself and now need to gete back on track.

Thanks for advice about bread. I have heard about Burgen but didn't know it would be suitable on Sonoma Diet. Will give that a try. Need to get back on track from tonights tea and tomorrow onwards. feel so angry with myself giving in to comfort eating. No willpower. First sign of anything emotional and I reach for the nice food and wine.

never going to get into my bridesmaids dress at this rate. Trying to persuade bride that I am too old to be a bridesmaid any way and to just have my kids!! Much cuter than me.

hope you are having a good week?

Glasses of sugar water
in the book it recommends doing both sugar water and ELOO each day. 2tbsps of sugar in water one hour after breakfast then 2tbsps ELOO in water one hour after lunch. Once you get to within 20lbs reduce to 1tbsp of each instead. If your weight loss stops or isn't really moving then go back to the higher amounts. From some of the other posts some people don't do sugar water, just ELOO twice a day, 2tbsps in morning and 2tbsps in afternoon (4tbsps in total)

But if you find you are not losing weight stick to the higher amount.

I still can't get my head around it working but it certainly is helping with my appetite. Confused

Sonoma vs. Mediterranean
Hi, can I ask you Sonoma experts if you have found it easy to get hold of a good wholegrain bread? I normally shop at Tescos so hope they will stock one. Also any advice on best type of breakfast cereal you have found?

Going to start on Monday once I have done my weekly shop this weekend and after having lunch out for a birthday on Saturday.

thanks for giving so much support on this site

I need help starting out here
Hi, from what Ihave read you can have all the things you like, it is more to do with portion sizes and choosing wholewheat pasta over white, brown rice over white rice, wholegrain bread over white/ordinary brown. Ideal if you like meat, fish, and a nice varied diet including all natural foods veg, spices, fruit, seeds, grains, etc.

Some really nice recipes in the Sonoma Diet book to start with but I think I will definately get the cookbook for more inspiration.

I am hoping to start it on Monday once I have done a shopping list for Tescos this weekend.

Good luck. We can keep up to date with our success!!Smile
