Heading more towards Atkins way of eating again. 1400 cal a day counting didn't provoke weight loss, plus I began sugar craving/sugar blues again. Fatigue and all that goes with eating more than 30 carbs a day for my system. Now trying to balance low sodium/low carb eating plan. Many Atkins foods are kind of high sodium too, ie, never knew chicken had so much sodium. Also can't use deli meats, hot dogs, that sort of thing so will take some study to figure it all out. My old Atkins mainstays like cheddar cheese are very high in sodium. Luckily I love baby swiss and that's low sodium. Have to stay at 1500-2000 max sodium mg daily. I'm a science project. lol

But two days on the Atkins and my mood has lifted already. Just can't tolerate carbs, even healthy ones like brown rice. So we'll just keep trying till we find the right mix. At least I'm in the 160's and not the 180's like I was in December. Have to keep positive.

Well, sticking to my sodium level max daily and even though eating at or below my RDI weight not yet coming off. I'll be patient. Reading a great book to achieve more mindfulness and also get me inspired to paint again - The Zen of Creativity by John Daido Loori. I am finding it applies to all areas of my life, especially eating mindfully and being aware of what thoughts are in my mind around food - and feelings around not-food. There was this quote which is both profound about life and funny about food:

"Renunciation is not giving up the things of this world, but accepting that they go away" - Shunryu Suzuki

I laughed out loud. After my near death experience in March it rings deeply true for me; but regarding food it's a very visible process to watch....that irresistible chocolate cake quickly goes away down the toilet! Why do I make a god out of it?

Have a great day. Look at the yummy temptations and just say, "Oh, in 24 hours you'd just be sh&%$#t anyway and you won't have contributed to my health on the way out. So who needs you?" LOL
