I am a 33 year young science geek living in western Canada, doing ecological research for the university in my city. During the summer I am very active, quadding, hiking, digging soil pits, sampling soils, planting trees, pulling ATVs out of the muskeg..etc. During the winter I am a typical computer nerd, entering and analyzing the summer data, reading papers and basically sitting on my butt. I tend to gain a bit of weight each winter due to the more sedentary lifestyle I lead. I usually don't lose ALL the weight I gained each winter so it's been adding up each year. I would like to lose about 10-15 Lbs to get myself back on track.

I am into my 11th week of pregnancy and have gained about 2 lbs. My belly is already starting to protrude a little but I am determined to stay within a reasonable weight gain. I have been exhausted this first trimester but I am hoping to get more active in the second. I have been walking for about 25 minutes every day though, and will get back into doing yoga now that it's a little safer for the pregnancy. Eventually I will start a prenatal yoga class I think, because I am not sure if I will be able to do most of the ashtanga poses when my belly is a lot bigger LOL.
