I'm 41, but I'm not my father's 41. My teenagers really do come to me for new music a lot of the time, and I am into a lot of modern heavy music. I play guitar, and have off and on for almost 30 years.
I work from home most of the time, a mid-level manager of three technology teams spread out around the US. Weight has been a battle since I got off the construction site and into IT in my late 20s. Putting on weight is the easiest thing in the world - it just happens unless I actively prevent it. Taking it off is difficult - seriously. Eating 1,000 calories a day less than I burn and exercising moderately does NOTHING. I need aggressive and heavy exercise and an extremely limited caloric intake to lose.
I haven't seen the south side of 250 since 2007. I am on the verge of it again, but I want to get under 200, which hasn't happened since 2000.
This summer, my wife and I are going to Europe, and I don't want to be the "fat American" when we do.
