I'm a Software Engineer in the San Francisco bay area, and have been up and down the scale a few times. My biggest was 320lbs as a Junior in high school. I had been overweight all my life up to that point (17yrs old), and had pretty low self esteem. I hit the gym in the spring towards the end of Junior year and started taking Phentermine - which caused me to drop all the way to 185 by the beginning of Senior year.
After going to college, I went back up another 30lbs in freshman year, then dropped it back down to 190 with even more muscle.
Then another life change happened and I went up to 230 again, this time after graduation. I moved to Omaha, NE for my first engineering job, and was determined to get back down to my goal weight. I started running long distances and working out - found a workout budddy there, and we both dropped down to 190 again. During this time I ran several half-marathons, and had run as far as 17 miles at once.
I got a job offer in California, and couldn't pass it up - so I went there. Unfortunately, not only was this a life changing event, but I broke my ankle right away. Couldn't exercise for months. Unfortunately, the free food at work and change in environment made me fall off the horse and I have been gaining ever since 2010.
Now, I'm back up to almost 300 pounds, and I have a wedding to get ready for in June 2013. I feel horrible and guilty almost every day for being this way - and it's almost hard to remember what it was like when I was fit and felt attractive.
I'm back on the horse, and more motivated than ever to get back down. I want to spend the next chapter of my life fit and confident!
