So in February 2012 I found myself in the hospital. I'm not sick, it was nothing serious, but I realized I am 26 years old and I was a little over 300 pounds. I've lost weight before doing a million other "diets" but I knew myself, and I knew I was so emotionally addicted to food that I needed to do something drastic. So, at the end of February, I started Atkins, to cut sugar out of my diet.

It's been almost 6 months and I've lost a little over 50 pounds. It's the hardest thing I've ever done and will continue to be hard. It's not easy and I know it never will be, but fatsecret is a blessing for me. Feel free to say hello and add me, it's so much easier to do this with someone else than alone. I'm going to be cliche and say "it's a journey, let's do it together". :-)

A few of these responses sound realistic. When I started Atkins I experiences the "flu". Headaches, dizzy, nauseous, no energy, couldn't work or get out of bed. I had to make sure I was getting enough calories and adding more salt to my diet. We're told salt is bad, but there is natural salt (electrolytes) in our bodies that we need to survive. As soon as I started this I started feeling much better.

I don't know, I use 2 splenda/day in my coffee and I've never had any problem, but we're all different and our bodies react differently to different stimuli, or lack thereof. Definitely start taking a multi-vitamin (without iron, as Atkins recommends) and for the cramps, a good backup is, as others have said, potassium. I know I'm not getting nearly enough vitamins/nutrients now that I'm not eating the veggies I used to, so I back my body up with a couple of pills in the morning.
