I am a seventy year old man. On August 1, 2010 my husband and I began seriously working out at our local Gold's Gym. We have been showing up at 5:15 a.m. 3 to 4 times a week since then. I do weight training (with a trainer twice a week) for about an hour and at least 30 minutes of cardio activity. I wanted to get to 200 pounds or less...I still do. I did weight watchers for a couple of months, but did not like it. I refused to count calories. Our one year anniversay of going to the gym is coming up SOON. I am determined to get to 200 or less by then...I have put this off for years...thinking "next week...tomorrow...etc." I think I have all the time in the world, while friends and family are literally dying. I know that I have blocks to my achieveing this goal...I no longer care to waste any precious time dealing with them! I MUST count the calories, I know this. I found FatSecret on my iPad: I think that it is terrific. I think tht it will be the tool to help motivate me to achieve my physical fitness goals. This 8 week challenge and the rest of you fellow participants out there in the "cloud" are an added incentive. Let's do this!

Introduction
I am healthy, active seventy year old man. I go to Gold's Gym here in Palm Springs four or five tmes a week, arriving at 5:15 am with my workout partner. At that time in the pre-dawn morning everyone is there to work. I do 45 to 60 minutes of strenuous lifting followed by 30 to 45 minutes of cardio. We started this routine on August 1, 2010...we have not missed a week. At that point I was a flabby 225, 5' 10" man who had been saying, "I want to get below 200 again.". For years I thought that tomorrow was the day and that there was always tme. Well it hit me a liitle slowly after my seventh birthday that It's never tomorrow, only right NOW and (as I watched friends and family die) I have no more certain moment than this one. It was the moment of truth. In the course of the last eleven months I have lost 10 pounds, 4+ inches from my waist and gained lots of muscle. Coming up on our one-year gym anniversary I WANT TO BE AT OR BELOW 200 POUNDS! I have refused, for unknown reasons, to seriously count calories but it was clear to me that this would be the key to reaching m goal. Enter my birthday gift iPad fom my sons and the discovery of th Fat Secret app! I will havevto lose three pounds a week during July to reach my goal...starting at 215, I am now at 212. I am counting on being very much in the here and now and that NOTHING can taste as good as 200 pounds will feel on August 1st. Wishin me luck has nothing to do with it. Hugs!
