My name is Shawn and I was born of Irish and Thai descent on a U.S. Air Force base in Udorn, Thailand in 1972. I've always been skinny or slim with a slight muscular build. Crazy as it sounds, in high school and college, I drank "gain weight" formula drinks to gain muscle mass and fat. It didn't work much because of my insane exercise regimen and genes that kept my metabolism strong.
I was also a health nut. I majored in Nutritional Science and planned to be a weight doctor. Studying diets of various foods, I ate healthy and juiced with a myriad of fruit and vegetable concoctions. I was probably the only guy in college with a juice machine. Either way, a year before I was to graduate, I switched majors to Business Analysis, after not agreeing or getting along with my instructors.
Moving on, things were going well for me until I turned 35. My metabolism started to slow down and I started to gain more body fat, mainly in my love handles and stomach area. I was even playing indoor soccer and working out often. I guess my metabolism was slowing down.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I’m not happy with my new body fat. My BMI is 25.9 and my body fat percentage is 20% or so. So, my 2010 plan is to reduce the fat percentage to 14% and my weight to about 185 pounds.
