Lemon Juice in water...is it really making a difference?
PLEASE rinse your mouth with plain water immediately after drinking lemon water. The acid will erode the tooth structure even without the brushing. Like Joyceloo indicated, acid erosion can be very expensive to repair.

Lemon Juice in water...is it really making a difference?
Putting lemon in your water may or may not reduce your weight, but as a dentist, I can say it certainly can be effective at reducing the thickness of the enamel on your teeth. This can be undesireable for many reasons: thinner enamel will chip more easily, expose the roots of the teeth at the gumline leading to sensitive teeth or cavities, and make your teeth appear a darker color by allowing the darker color of the inner layer of the tooth structure to show through more easily. These unintended consequences can be expensive to repair.

If you want to use lemon, drink your beverage through a straw to the acid misses your front teeth, have a sip of plain water after, and consume your lemon beverage over a short period of time rather than sipping all day long to minimize the opportunity for damage to your teeth.

Happy Flossing,
