I've always been big, even as an infant. However, big and obese don't have to go hand in hand. I've had moments of success before, but for the most part, my life has been a steady process of moving up pants sizes. The most I've ever lost in the shortest amount of time was back in 2002 while I was working with a trainer. I think I ended up losing 60 lbs in 4 months. For a couple years after that I kept loosing, but I don't think I ever got below 280. Somehow I screwed it up. Got depressed, got married (unrelated) and gained all of it back. Whats worse is that I knew exactly what I was doing. What kept me from trying to lose it again was that I knew how hard it would be and how long it would take. It's been until now that I finally worked up the motivation to do it.

Now that I've started, it doesn't seem so hard anymore. It'll still take a while, but I'm patient and determined.

What was the catalyst that made you decide to lose weight?
I've needed to lose weight since I was 5, but it's so hard to get started. Throughout the last years, I've been constantly thinking about losing weight, but I never started. I would think about it, get stressed, over-eat, and gain weight. It was a vicious cycle. (I'm already talking about it like it wasn't just a week ago). So looking back over the last five days, I was wondering what got me started now? What was the catalyst that made me actually do something about it?

For me it was buying a scale that could weigh me, and taking my weight for the first time in years. That combined with Fatsecret has gotten me to focus on losing weight.

What was the Catalyst for you?

Is anyone else finding a new love for jogging?
check out this couch to 5k program:

I think there's even a challenge starting soon on fatsecret that is going to do that program.
