I am a 44 year old male, married going on 25 years. 2 children oldest son married with a beautiful little girl. She is Big Poppy's buddy :). Daughter is a junior in college. I decided to start getting in shape so that I can see my grand daughter grow up and so that I would be around for her and my family. I have just found out I am prediabetic. I chose the right time to do this evidently. I work at a Lowe's Home Improvement store for the last 13 years. I definately get my walking in daily. Although I don't count that as my exercise. I just really hope I can succeed in losing at least 60 lbs and get back to where or close to my target weight.

Whey Protein - Any good for losing Fat?
I use whey protein powder to help with both losing weight and help with recovery after a workout. I started about a month ago. I don't use it daily. I may have a 4 0z shake once in awhile in the A.M to get enough protein for that day to help burn fat. But I have also put more fiber in my diet. I think protein is good as long as you don't go overboard with it. My nutrionalist recommended about 100G of protein a day to maintain what I am doing. So far its all working out for me. Eat better and work out. It will be the best thing you can do for any diet.

RDI
I do not understand the RDI. It has me at over 3100cal per day to maintain I imagine. I want to lose weight so I have avg about 2300cal a day. How is this determined to actually lose weight. I feel good about being under the RDI but not good enough because I still feel as if I am eating to many calories per day.

RAPID WT LOSS vs OBESITY which is worse ?
I have just started losing weight. I started last Sunday lost a net of 10lbs so far. Just by eating right and exercise. I want to lose the weight but I do not want to do it so fast that the end result will be no good. I am losing for my health. My Dr. Told me if I continue to gain I will be a diabetic by spring. So far my diet and exercising is working but man I am so hungry for a pizza Smile
