Married two teenage boys
I exercise 4 time a week on the bike averaging 100+ miles a week

I hit 209lbs a few weeks ago and realized it was seriously hurting my cycling abilities
I usually ave 19+mph each ride (depending on the group)
I found I am struggling trying not to get dropped and this is due to my weight.

I hope to be 175lbs in 4 months so I will not have any excuses.

Started a Nutri Systen diet (9 weeks supply) and as of writing this I am on day 4.

FS Exercise Calorie allowance is out by 1000 calories
Understood but a 1000 calories??

I checked back over my past rides that I Logged on FS and none hit 1000+ calories according to my Garmin or Strava (Wish they did) all are over 1000+ calories over.

I dropped a line to Admin via FS contact page and see what they have to say.

In the mean time I will go back and adjust the intensity on FS to match the Garmin and Strava totals more closely.

It is not really an issue I guess just annoying and disheartening thinking "WOW I burnt 1700 calories" only to find it was less than 900 and I should not of had that extra slice of Pizza (-:

FS Exercise Calorie allowance is out by 1000 calories
I am positive this a FS issue as guy I rode with shows around the same numbers (based on his output)

I also upload my rides to a site called Strava which uses its own algorithms to calculate Calories speed etc it reads 805 Calories burnt.

I think this is a huge problem if people are basing their caloric intake on incorrect data this is not a small variance.

Pasta Less calories with sauce than without
But isn't the Pasta with sauce based on 1 cup of pasta?

FS Exercise Calorie allowance is out by 1000 calories
I ride at an ave of 19-20mph and record my activities via a Garmin Edge 1000.
I have noticed a wide difference in calories burnt for a given output + Time spent riding between my Garmin and FS.

Case in point today 26 miles 1.30 mins on the bike with an ave of 18.9mph FS tells me "Bicycling (very fast) - 17.5/mph" for 1:30 mins = 1715 calories.

My Garmin which recorded an Average 18.9 MPH gives me 725 calories for the ride.

I ride with a power meter and a heart rate monitor and speed sensor so the Garmin has various readings to extrapolate a calorie count.(still not exact science)

I realize that FS has to offer a ballpark number for a given exercise (time and effort) but we are talking a difference of 1000 calories which looks great on paper but seems totally incorrect.

Pasta Less calories with sauce than without
A little confused as Pasta is my favorite dish I looked at the FS chart and it says Pasta 1 Cup has a higher count across the board than Pasta with sauce
