How can I curb the Carbs?
For folks needing to lose weight, it is probable that you are not a glutton and a sloth, but have a carbohydrate sensitivity. When lowering the preponderance of one macronutrient (like carbohydrates) in your diet, in order not to get your metabolism lowered from too few calories, you will have to increase the preponderance of another. The carbohydrates and proteins both stimulate an injection from the pancreas of insulin, which our overweight bodies are insensitive to, so we store those calories as fat. If you moderate carbs to somewhere under 100 grams a day and keep protein moderate at somewhere around 70 grams per day, that leaves fat to fill the void. Natural fats that have been around since God created the Garden of Eden will satisfy the body's need for energy without overstimulating the pancreas beta cells and result in less fat being stored and less appetite stimulation from excess insulin response.
It is too complicated to fully explain here, but the facts are out there; you just have to be willing to find them and keep an open mind.
Three years ago, after losing 120 pounds on that "well balanced, low calorie" diet that another is posting about here, I could have written the response that she is promoting. I gained it all back in six months. The low calorie diet will eventually slow your metabolism down until your body cannot function and you will get cold and sluggish and constipated and become so starved and your will power so overwhelmed by that hungry body that you will no longer be able to withstand the temptations all around you and you will succumb to that temptation and gain weight and get discouraged and splurge and binge and gain it all back. Maybe not. But 90% of us have. I have four times in the past.
A high fat diet (not manufactured corn and soy and canola oils, but real fat from natural sources like coconuts, palm kernels, and animals) can help us lose excess body fat while not having to rely on will power. It is sustainable. I know. That is what I am doing now, the fifth time I have taken this journey. But this time I am not going to bed hungry, daydreaming about my next meal, waking up having dreamed of my next meal or being ravenous during the afternoons. I am calm. I am satisfied. And I have lost, so far, 71 pounds in 6 months. This time, I am not looking forward to getting off the diet; it is how I intend to eat for the rest of my life. I am now an active 69 year old feeling better than I have in decades. Don't let the usual conventional wisdom keep you from finding out the truth about nutrition. All mankind's technical advances are great outside of our cells, but when it comes to what we put into our bodies, we need what our cells were designed to use as fuel and building blocks, and those don't come from a manufacturing plant.

How can I curb the Carbs?
Whole grains, despite the hype, are NOT good carbs!!! No grains are good carbs (except maybe white rice). Why? Whole books have been written on the subject. I have room here to just remind us that the glycemic load for a piece of whole grain bread is higher than table sugar! A Snicker Bar would be an unhealthy, but better choice. Grains irritate the intestinal lining, destroy intestinal cilia, reducing the intestinal lining's ability to do its job, prevent the absorption of minerals, and give the brain a dose of opium-like compound that causes the susceptible to become addicted. A brand new book by a cardiologist will give you the latest research: Wheat Belly. Read it if you care and if your addiction doesn't give you a bad case of denial. The government health agencies are peopled by folks from the grain and manufactured oils industries, so we cannot rely on them to be our watchdogs. Take responsibility for your own health.
