I am 47 year old mother of 4 great kids and have a wondeful husband. I've reached the point in my life where I have come to realize how important taking time for "me" is and to this end I've commeted to getting into the best shape of my life in 2012. I started the process last year when I did a local 12 week body make over challenge. I lost 20 lbs and 8% body fat. I've maintained the body fat loss and have added 6lbs of lean muscle mass. My goal for 2012 is to lose an additional 25lbs, another 12% body fat and to add another 6-8 lbs of lean muscle with the ultimate goal to compete in an OCB figrue competion in August of 2012. I look forward to any tips and suggestions from others who have been there or are working on similar goals.

Workout
One of the best things things I did when I started looking at ways to get into shape was to go to several local gyms and tour their facilities and talk to the staff about what the offered. After selecting a gym that I felt comfortable (as much as you can in a new enviornment)in I scheduled a "fit assesment" with one of the trainiers on staff. There was no cost for the assesment. They spend approx 45-60 min with me discussing my fitness goals and taking weights and measurements that included 7 pt caliper pinch to determine body fat/lean muscle mass ratio. The trainer walked me through the gym and explained the layout and showed me some basic exercises and gave me some cardio suggestions to help me get started. As a result I signed up for 8 session with a trainer and it was by far the best investment I could have made in myself. I've lost 20 lbs and 8% body fat and now I really look forward to my gym time.

Good luck!
