I agree with what you say however there are no quick fixes.I would always go with what my mind says against the body needs but will teach my mind how important it is to stay on track while I meditate and agree upon a cheat schedule to help it sync up with the body's needs.For eg, If I crave for rice I mix a small bowl of rice with the curry I like and keep it for the whole day so I could take a spoonful of it when I crave and let it stay in my mouth till my whole taste buds see the heights of its taste and then go back to my protein shake and protein food.Then again I take another spoonful and then go back again.This way I wouldn't have rice as my big meals 3 times a day and shoot up more calories which would be hard to burn the next day.I thought this might give you an idea or two to help pull it all together.I have been struggling from 2009 and only this year I figured out where I went wrong.It took 4 years of analysis to understand my cravings and what I exactly needed to do about it.I hope you would be able to see it too.My wishes for you.
