I am a 60 year old mother of 5, grandmother, and until a year ago foster parent. I retired from real estate 5 years ago, have lived in Lexington, KY for the last 13 years and previous to that in NJ for 38 years...gee time flys!
I have started FatSecret a few times and then fallen away, but in July I started again at my peak of 210 lbs. Using South Beach I went down to about 195 but started back up. I started a program at the YMCA "Pre-Diabetic Program" starting at 203 lbs and now I am at 185 lbs.... Basically counting FAT Grams! For my weight, I have a goal of 42 grams a day or less and try to exercise for more than 180 minutes a week in addition to regular everyday activity.
I find that if I keep my fat grams around 42 or below, my calories will be around 1250. I
I had a total knee replacement a few years ago, and do not want to have the other knee replaced, so have been told that the weight loss will help on the wear and tear of the knee, in addition to the risks of diabetes and heart disease.
Staying motivated can be a problem and now that our 16 week program ended on Monday Jan 16th ...our group will only be meeting once a month. We will still be tracking and reporting when we meet, so that will help, but looking for friends and support here at FS.
