Goal Weight:140.0 lb
following: Andi1971's own diet
performance: losing 1.4 lb a week

I am 40 and a married mother of 3 beautiful daughters, 10, 16, and 18. I am a full time collage student and graduate at the end of June. I have been chunky my whole life that I can remember. My weight is usually pretty stable, it likes to be between 180 and 190, and will linger there until I put my foot down and say no more. So then I will do all the right things and drop 20. I was doing so good the last time I was happy with 160 and 155 at my low this time. For me it is not to bad but I hurt my shoulder and I have had surgery and sat at home just doing school work and it crept back up on me before I noticed it. So I have a lot of work to do to get back in shape and hopefully looking good for myself and job interviews with my new degree. With my strength coming from God this time I will succeed to keep it off. He will give me strength to fight for what I want.

One of the golden rules of dieting!
I am confessing. I broke one of the golden rules of dieting...and I broke it big time!

I just got finished with my favorite snack. Baked Blue corn tortilla chips..which do have some nutritional value, and some spicy hummus. Instead of fixing out a portion, of each, I sat down and finished the bag of chips and hummus. What was I thinking!!!The bag wasn't a new bag it had been already opened, but it was at least half full. I am so ashamed!

Steel cut oats
I am eating steel cut oatmeal for the first time this morning. I looked at the package of my regular style and this package, I cant really find the difference in nutritionally value. What is the better difference? Why are these better than the others? Also, I need the best way to cook them. 10 minutes in the microwave was too long and I am still not sure if they are finished. Anyone with suggestions? Please advise me. Thank you.

I need help sorting out my diet
I try to plan my meals around 300 calories each, and that leaves room for snacking, I am a big snack eater. But give or take it makes me happier this way. I load up on fruits and veggies, but my main meals have proteins. If your diet is very low calorie as you say you might need to start adding some proteins to it. I like boiled eggs, so I will boil a dozen for the week, I will have 2 or them as a quick breakfast with a glass of v-8, and then add an large apple. Lunch-you can have a sandwich whole grain bread is usually 50 calories per slice. add turkey and lettuce, on the side have some grape tomato or enjoy another v-8. You can snack on smart pop popcorn, and fruit and veggies all day. Dinner- make your plate with large servings of vegetables an 3-4 oz of protein- turkey, chicken breast, or red meat. After you play with your food for a while you will get used to counting them up and add them up to your goal calories let's say 1200. If you have more calories left to eat up have a bowl of cereal, I like to use Almond milk and that gives me more protein. If you pick the right cereal it will be a whole grain. While you are entering your foods make sure you keep watch of your fibers, that is were the gap usually is at the end of the day.

Food addicts!
I think I want to start a new group for people with the same problem I have, I am a food addict! I know I am not the only one. So since we are all here anyway, I will admit to you that I am Andrea and I have a food addiction. I love food and I can not give it up so easily. I love to be able to find a food that I can eat large amounts of and not feel guilty, problem is that is not a healthy thing to do no matter what food it is, and I haven't always ate healthy food while going on food binges, and no I am not bulimic either, I like to eat and eat. Problem is I know I have a problem and I do feel guilty for continuing on this same cycle and can't get off.

How would like to join me in a new group for people of 40 with 25-40lbs of weight to loose. Food addicts, lets figure out why we do this to ourselves!

Why do I do this to myself? I a thinking because I am missing something that my family never gave me on a regular basis, security and comfort and I lost somewhere the feeling of belonging when I was 10 and my father moved me to Florida and we left the rest of my family and support system in Massachusetts. I have more to share but that is a start.

Now it is your turn to join and share!

Dieting/Calorie Count
I personally am 5'2" and my recommend calorie intake was 1600 per day, so I make that my big number for the day in case I need a cheat. So my meals I keep about 300 calories give or take and then healthy snacking so I don't go hog wild hungry. So far I am doing pretty good. My goal weight is 140. Weight Watchers said I should weigh 132 or something like that. I went down that little and that was little for me and everyone thought I had been eaten up with cancer. I was even working out steadily, I just did not look good I was all bones. So if I get about 140 144 lbs I will be doing just fine.
